UK and overseas award competitions.
- The age criteria is currently 18 to 23.
- You must be studying and performing music.
- All auditions will be reviewed by a quorum of judges through a points allocation process, with additional merit points for performance.
- Finalists will be shortlisted for one of the published awards by panel judges to determine the winners.
- Where there is a draw, the Founder or Principal Judge will cast a winning point.
- Those who are successful will be advised at the end of the auditions, and informed which award level(s) has been attained.
Note
Prizes are awarded based on a defined point allocation similar to that used by the ABRSM.
The scores must meet the upper point limit for an award to be considered. A candidate who exceeds those levels will receive a published award. Those who exceed the highest points and are granted merit scores by the panel will be considered for a scholarship or bursary.
DYMF discretionary awards, scholarships and bursaries are granted where an applicant has demonstrated significant musicality, skill and passion.
The winner will be asked to play at a future concert or recital, and to promote and support the DYMF mission through online social media.
An award can be formally presented at their place of education or at a concert established by themselves or the DYMF and its partners (whichever is most suitable), or at an independent recital, where they can play their audition piece or another work of their choosing and receive their award and certificate in private.
In the event that a winner is not present at the end of the auditions or competitions, they will forfeit their prize and recital opportunity to the candidate with the next highest scores.
The adjudicating panel’s and Founder’s decision is final.
The DYMF does not disclose scores or provide feedback to individual applicants. The judging panel can be approached for feedback at the end of the competition.
Winners of all awards will be published on our website, on social media and with press coverage where appropriate.
All auditions will be subject to photography and video recording, which may be used by the DYMF for future reference and social media promotion, to showcase a winner’s talent.
